Unfortunately I agree for the most part with the article. I just really can't take the hardware failures, increasing scrooginess of XBL, and the GESTAPO-esqu mentality that Microsoft enforces over it's products anymore.

While I agree electronics need to be kept cool, there's no way in hell I'm taking responsibility for an overheating unit that should've been designed properly in the first place, or turning my livingroom into Spacely Sprockets to keep the thing cool. I'm still dumping my gold account. I 99% of the time play single-player campaigns anyway... (when I get a chance to play).

I do think it's a crap move to their install base though. Try ADDING features to gold members instead of strong-arming silver acct. holders to upgrade little by little.

I never said it wasn't a value numbnuts.
My point is that ANY content, be it purchased or free, should be playable offline regardless of hardware configuration. If I have dlc on my hdd, I should be able to disconnect it from my 360 and slap it on any other 360 and still have access to that content right off the bat.
And that is any better how? My launch console that I took extremely good care of just rrod on me 2 weeks ago. So I'm still screwed that I can no longer access dlc w/out being connected, since the replacement console isn't the native dl console.
NO XBL dlc will EVER be worth it until they get rid of the BS DRM that prevents you from accessing it if you lose your broadband connection.
I want to be able to play content I paid for unconditionally! Otherwise I'm only LEASING it and should be charged accordingly.

Wonder how much hotter than the std. DVD drive the HD drive gets? If it's about the same it'd be nice to mod. it to an internal drive.
All we'd need is a firmware update to let it read game disks, and some room in the 360 to hide that adapter board. Connect the USB internally and done.... In theory ;)
